Please Help!
I have gotten into playing PvP (a lot) sense a month ago. I believe I am quite good at playing, I know lots of things about the current meta, and I have all skills for my preferred class unlocked.
However, I visit HA once a day and never find a group. This is because I started PvP late and so know I want to get more competitive. But, sense I have no rank, I never find a group. I just came back from asking 5 different groups who were looking for sins (my preferred class) and they all said that they couldn't take me. This is very frustrating to me as puts me at a huge wall of never progressing in this game because your rank will never change.
I am extremely polite to all people, I never say anything to offend anyone. I just try to get into groups and it really sucks that I can't get into anything. Heck, I have even installed vent.
So, should I try to get more ranks in TA? Or should I just keep trying at HA? Or what do you suggest? I have a guild, but they are rather small and are trying to get into HA and stuff as well, except they have no idea what they are doing. I try to find other guilds with GvG / HA but most of them only recruit ranked players, which I am not.

my advice is to stop playing HA and move onto gvg. there's plenty of guilds looking for frontliners (which means you'll have to adapt to at least be able to play a warrior, though they are not THAT different from assassins). HA ranks are more or less jokes among those who play gvg, so that won't be held against you.

I have dabbled in war before, although I can also play midliners as well.
OK, I will look for more competitive guilds to get into, ty

Thats one of the reasons why i stopped playing guildwars for about half a year. Everything counts on ranks. When i got to DoA i couldn't wait to get a group and storm through getting myself an armbrace...Never could get a group because i wasnt R10 Ursan. So i stormed to Norn areas, repeatably vanq'd them and then when i almost got to an acceptable rank, it was nerfed...Then the next big thing was some other shitty team that i couldn't get into, and now its Cryway...And guess what, i was already r10 SS with the skill. And now everyones QQ'ing and asking for that to be nerfed. I swear to god if thats nerfed and the next big team is one i cannot enter, il ****ing rage quit gw again lol.
Only once was i able to get into a HA group, and all of them were also a bunch of No Rankers in which we got annhilated =\. As above, i suggest GVG, if you are infact in a PVP guild, rather than a PVE guild like mine ¬_¬.

HA shot itself in the head when it required you to have rank to get rank. People say that no-rank, randomway groups can actually win, but they just say that to make themselves feel better. Randomway never wins.
Just stick with GvG... HA just isn't worth it if you haven't built yourself your own alternate dimension in which you already have rank.

Why do people say to not join HA when their only arguments against are about PUGing? Seriously don't pug ever. HA, GVG, TA, PVE, don't pug. If you think something sucks and you have only pugged, be more biased.

When I was a noobfaced r0 I didn't want to burden my ranked friends with me failing in their better teams, so I pugged my way to bambi in r0 teams, monking the whole way; that's what I'd advise.
Yes, you will fail a lot. But at the beginning fame is supposed to come very hard. You may think you know everything, but I guarantee you know about 2% of what you *should* come to learn. Who cares if you fail? The point is to get good, not get a tiger overnight.
The upside is that while you pug, you will come to recognize the more dedicated players capable of higher-level thinking, and hopefully they will recognize you. Put them on your flist and pug your way with the friends you meet along the way, and learn from other noobs' mistakes as much as your own. I guarantee the bambi won't be far away; plus, this strategy is less likely to make you want to poke your own eyes out from stupid r0's failures.
Also remember that a persistent, observant no-rank "scrub" is LEAGUES above a lot of other players, and won't be low ranked for long... so just don't get discouraged. I got my bambi in under two weeks. And since I took a long break since then, I'm only now starting to really get consistent fame; yet I haven't had to truly pug since that first week, and the rank issue has basically disappeared. I play with my friends, as high as R13 or low as 0, and have earned 3 sigils from multiple halls wins, just in the past few days... prob made 100k in zkeys this week alone. The fact about HA is, if you know someone's good, you don't care about their rank; and a good player is a lot harder to find than a high ranked one.
I can understand people itching for bambi, since that's the entry-level so you can at least pug with people who have effing been in HA before, but beyond that stop worrying about rank and focus on being a pro player and having a good time. I guarantee you will make friends.
Tip: Keep your friends: Be friendly, be prepared, remember people's names, know your job and do it. You will become recognized for it.
P.S. I'm not a GvG vet, but don't give up on HA just because of the rank reqs. They are totally different, from tactics to social scene, so I'd check out both.
Good Luck

You're off to a poor start. See the threads at the start of this forum. Be smart, and good things will come. Be lazy, and you get what you deserve.
